The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has issued a statement insisting that the Senate President, senator Bukola Saraki must appear at the Police headquarters in Abuja to answer questions with respect to the offa robbery, which claimed more than 30 lives in which the senate president has allegedly been incriminated.
The inspector general was said: “The Senate President must honour Police invitation; otherwise the Force will not hesitate to use all the instruments of the law to ensure compliance with the law.”
Although many, including the Senate President and his supporters have said the police invitation was meant to achieve political purpose, the Nigerian Police has maintained that it is simply performing its function in investigating and prosecuting offenders and that there will be no preferential treatment between the common man on the street and the influential people.
The events of the coming days will certainly reveal may things.
